CONCLUSION:

I guess you can tell by this article which aircraft I prefer. When they were seeking volunteers to assist in the SR-71 Reactivation efforts, it wasn't hard for me at all to leave the U-2 program. Both have served it's country well, and at least one is continuing to do so. The SR-71 will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I hope some day it will again enhance our national defense. But for know, I'll sleep good at night knowing the U-2 is up there.

I hope I was able to lend you some insight as to what it was really like through the eyes of a maintenance guy. We don't receive much glory, and we're often taken for granted. Very few people get the chance to experience what I have, and these memories will last me a lifetime. I have grown up in the Air Force, and wouldn't trade that for anything in the world. No regrets!
